I for one am really excited about the dervish rework. Theyve been needing it for a while. I have to agree with peoples concerns for already tough-to-deal-wth derv mobs/bosses becoming practically a garunteed instawipe, and the concern that the derv H/H may not be able to use the general builds particularly well due to the added requirement of timing for what seems to be most skills. But in general I think this is gonna be great, and as far as the H/H thing goes (heros at least) there have always been builds that heros just dont use well, and some that heros make abuseable.
With the addition of adrenaline to the dervs, I can imagine P/D Scythe Paras coming into the fray now; with 80 armour and their adrenaline pump skills, could be interesting. Saying that though, it seems to be that W/D Scythe Warriors will be more viable, freeing up their elite slot. Could well destroy crit scythes though, depending on whether mystic sweep/eremites attack gets changed.
Also this mysticism change just sounds like expertise but limited to derv enchants. Granted its still leaps and bounds better than its current function... but still doesnt make me as excited about playing my derv as the rest of the update preview does

Truth. The things that people who haven't tested them for themselves point out and shout "Unbalanced!" are going to be the things that the balancers know they have to be careful with. Nobody foresaw that someone might deliberately reduce their hit points and abuse Protective Spirit to become practically invulnerable to anything that lacks enchantment removal until it happened, though...

600 Derv + a Mo/R Smiter with Serpent's quickness for Spell Breaker recharge, Pestilence and EoE. It looks to me from the skill descriptions on the Update preview page that the Derv will be an exceedingly good 600.

Again the memser hate shines its ugly head
They where fine in PVE before the skill changes infact before the PVE skills etc.. You just needed to know what worked against what foe and tweak builds in advance for every single situation. People seemed not to grasp this in PVE. Unfortunately they try to gauge a mesmers team value on DMG per second rather then stopping skills and enchantments and shutting down healers. No one cares about how you do the game its all about how fast you can do it.

It's got myself pondering on running a Terra Tank to ball up mobs, and 2 Avatar of Balthazar Dervs on each side spamming Farmer's Scythe (Depending if Farmer's Scythe stays close to what it is now) and Whirlwind Attack, while dropping an occasional Bathazar's Rage.

Well, Killing is the best way of "stopping skills and enchantments and shutting down healers". This seemed to be the main point of the mesmer; to shut down monsters, and in this respect most other classes before the mesmer update seemed better at doing so than the mesmer because they could kill faster, so I don't think they were all that fine in pve before the skill changes.

QFT..i tried once when i started playing and for a new player....was simply unusable. Not efficiently at least. Now i'm enjoying so much my new mez...
I believe that some rework change the popularity of profs. Some times ago, you an hardly see more than 5 Rits once, even less Mez. After the respective buffs, you can't move without see dozen of them...only Sins and Wars are so numerous. So seems obvious that they decided to buff dervs...

just read a couple of pages back
personaly i like a class to be best at what its supposed to be, so a derv should be the best option for using a sythe.
id also love a half range/full range duel attack for assassins

If u mean by being the best with skills relating to scythes, then i agree, it seems like what they are trying to do with the update. Dervishes were never meant to win in an auto swinging battle.

There's some guilds out there that are open to dervish with YUMway or physway set ups. Spirit spamming and I don't know if those dervish solo builds on PvX work (they often don't).

because you will be able to do tons of aoe damage by removing derv enchantments and not the monk enchantments. the extra health means that you don't need to bring vital blessing either.
